139th Decoration Day
For the 139th time, on the 4th Sunday in April, church members, townspeople and descendants of the pioneers of the College Mound community will gather to tend the graves of their loved ones, friends and ancestors and honor those lives. Each year 200-300 people return to the historic community to reunite with family, distant relatives and life-long friends…and share some of the best country food you’ll ever know.
Emalie Dockery, descendant of William R. Love, will be our Guest Speaker for Decoration Day 2025.
Captain John J. Beck and Andrew Henry’s families settle at Beck’s Mound (later renamed College Mound).
Alice Henry marries William R. Love at College Mound, combining two original College Mound pioneer families.
First known date for Decoration Day at College Mound Cemetery.
First cemetery association formed without capital stock for the purpose of maintenance and care of the College Mound Cemetery.
